From July 15 to 31, 2025, Earth-HK research teams conducted a 17-day scientific expedition along the coast of the Greater Bay Area. This significant endeavor brought together 42 faculty members and students from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), Xiamen University, and several universities from mainland China.
During the expedition, the teams conducted investigations at over 90 operational sites, focusing on key areas such as the Pearl River channel, the Pearl River Estuary, and the coastal regions of Guangdong Province, extending from Shangchuan Island to Daya Bay. The impact of this project on the GBA garnered media attention, with coverage from China Media Group ,Radio the Greater Bay.
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the frontline researchers involved. Their tireless efforts and unwavering dedication have been crucial in collecting the necessary data and ensuring the success of the survey.
The observational data gathered during this scientific expedition will significantly contribute to the progress of Earth-HK, aiding in the sustainable development of the terrestrial-marine-atmospheric environment in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
