On October 22, we have hosted the Earth-HK(AoE/P-601/23-N) and Center for Ocean Research in Hong Kong and Macau (CORE) Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme (PDFS) Award Ceremony 2025 and Workshop at The HKUST Jockey Club Institute for Advanced Study (IAS), The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST).This event provided a significant platform for awardees to present their research findings, facilitating collaboration among peers and enhancing the overall impact of their work.
This initiative offers a unique opportunity for outstanding candidates to make substantial contributions to groundbreaking research across various fields, thereby fostering innovation and progress within the academic and scientific communities.
The PDFS is designed to support Earth-HK project members in identifying and nurturing highly promising postdoctoral researchers who can significantly advance the project’s goals. Candidates for the fellowship are evaluated based on their research relevance to Earth-HK’s four major research tasks, which include:
- Atmosphere: Research on atmospheric circulation, severe weather prediction, and long-term climate variability.
- Land: Studies focusing on river basin processes, groundwater dynamics, and the impacts of land use change.
- Ocean: Investigations into ocean circulation and coupled physical-biogeochemical dynamics.
- Climate and Human Activities: Exploration of the interactions between climate change and human activities.
The impact of the PDFS is profound, as it will enhance the research capabilities of the Earth-HK project and contribute to a deeper understanding of the environmental challenges facing our planet. By supporting innovative research, the fellowship aims to drive meaningful change and develop solutions to pressing global issues.
We invite all members of the Earth-HK Project to nominate exceptional candidates who are prepared to contribute to this vital mission. Together, we can create a lasting impact through the Earth-HK Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme.
Stay tuned for the next round! For more information about the PDFS, pleases contact: earthhk@ust.hk.
