From August 2 to 7, 2026, Prof. Gan’s research team participated in the 23rd Annual Meeting of the Asia Oceania Geosciences Society (AOGS2026), held at the Fukuoka International Congress Centre in Fukuoka, Japan. During this prestigious international event, the team presented its innovative regional earth system digital twin, WavyOcean 3.0, to stakeholders and visitors in the Exhibition Hall.
AOGS serves as a leading platform for advancing earth system science and sustainable development, bringing together experts to exchange insights on globally significant risks, challenges, and opportunities. The annual meeting convenes geoscientists from diverse disciplines, industry leaders, sustainability professionals, and decision-makers involved in research, policy development, and practical implementation across various sectors.
Throughout the exhibition, Prof. Gan’s research team engaged with recognized changemakers, connected with key stakeholders, and demonstrated how WavyOcean 3.0 can support researchers and policymakers in better understanding the interconnected ocean–atmosphere–land system. By offering timely data and immersive 3D visualizations, WavyOcean 3.0 provides a powerful tool for earth system analysis and decision support.
The platform integrates Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Building Information Modeling (BIM), and digital twin technologies to help communities pursue a balanced approach to environmental conservation and economic development. Through these capabilities, WavyOcean 3.0 contributes to building a healthier and more sustainable planet for future generations.
Participation in AOGS2026 provided a valuable opportunity to share our latest progress, exchange ideas with the international geoscience community, and explore new possibilities for collaboration. Moving forward, the team will continue to advance digital twin technologies and support science-based solutions for sustainable ocean and earth system management.
